APCOM Foundation spotlights HIV and LGBTQI community across Asia Pacific at 5th HERO Awards 2021

Bangkok, 19 November 2021APCOM Foundation, a leading Asia—Pacific HIV and LGBTQI community organisation based in Bangkok, is proud to present its 5th HERO Awards under the ‘HERO Awards 2021: One Night Live for All’ theme.

This year’s HERO Awards ceremony takes place online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but promises a spectacular show. It will highlight and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of HIV and LGBTQI advocates and allies from across Asia Pacific for their phenomenal work during the pandemic.

The 11 categories an equal number of HERO Awards include Business Ally; Covid-19 Hero; Community Ally; Community Hero; Community Organisation; Health & Wellbeing Hero; HIV Hero; Social Justice Hero; Transgender Hero; Young Achiever Award; and Shivananda Khan Award for Extraordinary Achievement. The awards will be bestowed to individuals and organisations for their respective contributions to the health and rights of LGBTQI communities and people affected by HIV.

A gala evening that promises to entertain feature an exciting program of performances and shows to help raise funds and support LGBTQI organisations in the region that have been severely affected by the pandemic. These include a special fashion show, under a ‘F*ck Covid, I’m Fabulous’ theme, designed by the College of Creative Industry (FASH CCI) of Srinakharinwirot University and modeled by APCOM’s community partners and influencers. Spicing up the event will performances by 2 famous drag queens including ‘M Stranger’ of Stranger Bar, and ‘Zymone’ from The Voice Thailand. Ben Chalatit, Thailand’s gay icon and UNAIDS National Goodwill Ambassador for Thailand will also give a highly stylized performance.

This year’s co-presenters Joe Chonlawit, from the Voice TV, and Sira Siravitch, Bangkok’s Diva Queen from Drag Race Thailand, who will also preview what is in store or the upcoming Bangkok Pride 2022 that APCOM will be involved in.

The ‘HERO Awards 2021: One Night Live for All’ will take place via Zoom and Facebook Live on Friday, 26 November 2021 from 19:30 to 22:30 Bangkok time. The event is free; however, donations are very much appreciated as it helps APCOM continue the important work support to LGBTQI individuals and organisations adversely affected by the pandemic and other issues.
