BASE Bangkok Partners with HYROX to Help Bangkok Prepare For Its First Race
BANGKOK, 13 February 2025 – BASE Bangkok, ‘Asia’s Gym of the Year’ and multiple winner of ‘Best Gym in Bangkok’ by ClassPass, officially announced its partnership with HYROX in March 2024. Now, BASE has developed a specialized 12-week training program to help athletes of all levels prepare for the first-ever HYROX race in Thailand, set to take place in May 2025.
HYROX, the global fitness race phenomenon, has seen explosive growth since its inception in Hamburg, Germany, in 2017. Created by Christian Toetzke, one of the world’s most experienced mass participation race event organizers, and three-time Olympic medalist Moritz Furste, HYROX has expanded rapidly across Europe and the US, with some events attracting over 8,000 participants and 10,000 spectators. Now, the race is gaining momentum in Asia, with recent competitions in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and China—leading up to its debut in Thailand in 2025.
BASE first partnered with HYROX in March 2024, but to support the inaugural HYROX event in Thailand, BASE has enhanced its training facilities with more competition-weight equipment, SkiErgs, and Concept 2 RowErgs—all key elements of the HYROX race. BASE’s expertise in strength and conditioning, combined with its state-of-the-art facilities, makes it the perfect training ground for athletes preparing for HYROX Thailand.
A Training Program Designed for HYROX Success
BASE Bangkok has launched a ’12 Weeks To HYROX’ program, starting on 22nd February to ensure participants are fully prepared for race day. The program offers unlimited access to all HYROX-specific training classes, as well as BASE’s signature strength and conditioning sessions. Participants will also receive a 12-week personalized running program tailored to their fitness level and goal time. Although the program starts on 22nd February, BASE is allowing entry until 22nd March to accommodate late HYROX race sign-ups.
To further enhance race preparation, BASE will provide three progress monitoring sessions throughout the 12-week program to all participants. Those who want to enhance their preparation can take part in a 90-minute HYROX simulation session to experience the full race conditions, or add on focused one-on-one personal training. With these structured training opportunities, athletes can confidently approach HYROX with the strength, endurance, and technique needed to succeed.
HYROX at BASE: A Community-Driven Experience
BASE is home to a strong community of HYROX athletes, including Coaches Chanakarn ‘Kie’ Lurkraisit and Ohm Wanjai, who have competed in races across the region. Coach Kie has even qualified for the HYROX World Championships in Chicago this year, following a top-three finish in Singapore’s 2024 women’s Open category. Her firsthand race experience and expertise, along with BASE’s experienced coaching team, will provide participants with valuable insights, techniques, and motivation leading up to the race.
“After competing in five HYROX races across Asia, I’m excited to see the race come to Thailand,” said BASE Coach Chanakarn ‘Kie’ Lurkraisit. “HYROX is such an inclusive and accessible event—whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just getting into fitness, there’s a category for everyone. I love that this race will inspire more people in Thailand to challenge themselves and train with a purpose. It’s a huge milestone for the fitness industry here, and I can’t wait to see the energy and community it brings.”
Why Thailand? The Rising Demand for Fitness Challenges
According to the Thai Mass Participation Sports Trade Association (TMPSA), over 1,500 mass participation fitness events, including marathons and obstacle races, took place in 2023. This number grew by 25% in 2024 with accelerated growth expected in the coming years, demonstrating Thailand’s increasing enthusiasm for competitive fitness and events. With HYROX making its debut in Thailand, the race is set to be a major milestone in the country’s fitness industry.
“As fitness continue to grow in popularity, more people are seeking fun and exciting experiences. HYROX has been a huge hit around the world over the last few years, so I’m proud it’s coming to Thailand” said Jack Thomas, Founder and CEO of BASE. “We’re excited to provide a world-class HYROX training experience and help athletes of all levels in Bangkok push their limits.”
“We are thrilled to bring HYROX to Thailand for the first time and to have BASE on board as a partner gym,” said Richard Cowley, APAC Director of HYROX. “Thailand has a rapidly growing fitness community, and we see huge potential for HYROX to become a major part of the country’s fitness landscape. With the energy and enthusiasm we’re already seeing, we’re confident that HYROX Thailand will be an incredible event and the start of something big in the region.”
