COORSTEK EXPANDS MANUFACTURING CAPACITY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

CoorsTek held a traditional Thai groundbreaking ceremony on January 25, 2021 at the construction site

Rayong, Thailand, February 3, 2021 ─ CoorsTek, a world’s leading engineered ceramics manufacturer is announcing the expansion of its manufacturing footprint in southeast Asia. The US based company is beginning construction on the first phase of a 400,000 sq, ft. engineered ceramics manufacturing facility in the province of Rayong, Thailand with construction to begin in February 2021.

“As part of CoorsTek’s strategy, we are expanding our operations into regions with better access to growing markets.  Asia is one of the world’s most dynamic regions so the decision to build a new facility in Thailand was a good fit with our strategy to establish a presence in southeast Asia,” said Michael Coors, Co-CEO for CoorsTek. “CoorsTek has a long track record of building strong customer partnerships to facilitate strategic growth and to drive efficiencies in regions where our customers operate.”

The company held a traditional Thai groundbreaking ceremony on January 25, 2021 at the construction site with limited attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions in the province.

“There is a growing need for technical ceramics in a wide variety of industries as these materials play an important role in solving future technical challenges and in addressing end-user expectations,” said Andy Filson, Chief Operations Officer. “The opening of our facility in Thailand provides a critical production hub for the continued supply of CoorsTek high-quality engineered ceramics in southeast Asia.”

The company’s new facility will enhance CoorsTek’s footprint in Asia, which includes production sites in South Korea and Japan and sales offices and technology centers in Taiwan, China, South Korea, and Japan. The company also has R&D centers in Hadano, Japan; Uden, the Netherlands; and Golden, Colorado that will support customers across Asia with innovation, new product development, analytical testing needs and computer simulations.

CoorsTek expects the facility to be fully operational by early 2022. The company will hire approximately 300 employees over the next two years and up to 600 employees within five years.
