J.P. Morgan first to introduce Japanese Index Warrants in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand, June 17, 2024 — J.P. Morgan has just issued two pairs of derivative warrants linked to the Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index in Japan, becoming the first issuer to offer the product in Thailand. These warrants allow investors to participate in both upside and downside of index movement. The new derivative warrants began trading on The Stock Exchange of Thailand on June 14.

To meet different investor needs, J.P. Morgan offers two types of Nikkei derivative warrants. The first type has high leverage, which allows investors to use their initial investment to gain greater exposure and manage risk. The second type has low daily time decay, where the value decreases slowly over time, suitable for investors with a lower risk appetite and who prefer moderate leverage. Both types, however, provide approximately 5 to 20 times effective gearing and have a strike price ranging from 30,000 points to 48,000 points#.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index, which comprises a broad range of Japan’s largest companies, offers diversified exposure for investors to spread their risk across multiple sectors and companies. The newly issued derivative warrants will track the price movements of the Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index Futures listed on the Osaka Exchange, Inc.

“The launch of the Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index derivative warrants provides investors with alternative access to the Japanese market. The broad diversification of the index enables investors to gain potential exposure to Japanese companies and provides a new tool to effectively broaden their investments opportunities and mitigate their concentration risk,” said Marco Sucharitkul, Senior Country Officer, Thailand.

Tosapol Kerdphol, Head of Listed Structured Products, JPMorgan Securities (Thailand) Limited, commented, “The Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index’s performance and broad composition make it an attractive choice for investors. These new products enable them to leverage Japan’s economic strengths and diversify their portfolios.”

The derivative warrants linked to the Nikkei 225 Stock Average Index issued by JPMorgan Securities (Thailand) Limited are listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand with the product code starting with “NIKKEI41”. Investors who have a stock account with any securities company can access this product.

J.P. Morgan’s Warrants website – JPMorgandw41.com/nikkei will provide price information on Nikkei 225 Warrants product to assist investors in analyzing the product price movement.

J.P. Morgan launched its derivatives warrants business in Thailand in 2018 and has since listed more than 3,000 warrants. As the leading issuer of derivatives warrants in Thailand,
J.P. Morgan is committed to providing investors with a wider variety of instruments for different market conditions and risk appetites.
