Left-Over Happiness

Klairung Attanatho

4 – 29 February 2024

The Art Haus

2nd Floor, River City Bangkok

The Art Haus is pleased to announce its new exhibition “Left-Over Happiness” by artist and professor Klairung Attanatho. The exhibition features the creation of miniature art where real life settings such as café, living room, kitchen, or even street art on city’s wall are recreated in a tiny scale. Situated in a portable oil gallon, the life in this diorama can be inspected closely from all angles.

“Left-over Happiness” echoes my longtime love of diorama art and miniature modeling as a hobby. Most of the dioramas in this exhibition are made from discarded plastic oil gallons. Some of the elements assembled from scrap toys add to the charm of the work. Some of scrap toys always look cute and hilarious, some are unidentifiable objects, but they all once brought joy to the owner. Scouring the scrap stores for the right pieces is the enjoyable process for me. I hope my dioramas bring joy to all viewers, like they do for me.” said Klairung.

About the Artist

Turning head over heels when joining the sculpting class at Parsons School of Design, New York, where she began early to study art. Klairung Attanatho has found herself fond of ‘clay’ as the magic substance that is pliable but holds the shapes which generate the absolute beauty of real light and shade, and that was the turning point of her life – from accounting and management field to the world of art and design, especially in three-dimensional form. After receiving the other bachelor and master degrees in fine art and design from Australia, she had performed her career as a sculptor along with the university lecturer in Bangkok since then. She was involved in a variety of exhibitions in USA, Australia, and Thailand. Her work is currently represented in many art galleries in Bangkok. She is seeking to leverage her passion and expertise in the role of lecturer at School of Architecture and Design, Assumption University. In addition to all the happenings, events and exhibitions, Klairung had the greatest opportunities of her life to present the sculpture ‘Khun Thong Dang’ to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and to present buffaloes and goat sculptures to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

“Left-Over Happiness” is on display at The Art Haus, 2nd floor River City Bangkok from February 4 – 29, 2024. Opening reception is held on Sunday February 4, 2024 at 3-5 pm.
