Opera Siam and Siam Sinfonietta present Songs of Love and War

Concert features music of Monteverdi, Rossini, Vivaldi, and Schumann

Somtow Sucharitkul will conduct the concert.

It begins in the baroque era with excerpts from Monteverdi’s groundbreaking 17th Century masterpiece Songs of Love and War sung by the Calliope Chamber Choir, and continues with Vivaldi’s tuneful Mandolin Concerto played by Charapinyo, one of the winners of Siam Sinfonietta’s “Virtual Virtuoso” competition.

The second half of the program is music from the romantic period.  War is represented by Rossini’s exciting William Tell Overture, with its iconic “Lone Ranger” theme. Love is from Schumann’s passionate Third Symphony, nicknamed the Rhenish. Those lucky enough to attend should even more surprises.

The Banyan Tree’s cash bar, featuring one of its premier mixologists, starts serving from 6pm and the audience will be seated at 7:30. And yes — guests can take their glass of wine or cocktail into the concert!
