Prince of Songkla University Students visit Continental tire plant
- Over forty students and teachers from the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology visit Continental tire plant in Rayong
- Students are presented the tire manufacturing technology and career opportunities in the company
Bangkok, September 12th, 2022, Continental, one of the leading tire manufacturers, welcomed on August 29th over forty students and teachers from the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, the Prince of Songkla University to its passenger and light truck tire production facility located in WHA Industrial Estate 4, Rayong.
The program included a warm welcome speech by the plant management and a facility tour where the students and teachers were introduced to the cutting – edge German technology and ecologically friendly tire production and learned about job opportunities with Continental Tyres in Rayong.
“We are pleased to welcome the Prince of Songkla University students and teachers to our Rayong plant to learn more about tire manufacturing technologies and processes. Our aim is to attract the young generations for the manifold career opportunities in our company,” stated Mr. Vignesh Devasenapathy, Plant Manager. “At Continental in Rayong we are offering trainee as well as vocational education training programs to help young talents advance their careers and attain their fullest potential. We will continue to hire engineers for the technical areas as well as administrative staff and shopfloor personnel in the coming years,” highlighted Ms. Naiyana Tipsawad, Head of HR Location.
Our most recent collaborations with educational institutions include work-integrated learning (WiL) program with Chulalongkorn University and Rayong Technical College, dual vocational training program with Thai-Austrian Technical College. These programs aimed to develop the skills of students from both vocational school and master’s degree level though a two-year training and learning experiences at our Rayong Plant.
With an aim to supply passenger and light truck tires to Asia Pacific Region, Continental has committed to a long-term investment totaling in the first phase to around €250 million and in 2019 the company invested around €26 million into its new motorcycle facility to strengthen the production capacities. Continental in Rayong employs currently around 750 people.
