About Exhibition

Superheroes are the ultimate embodiment of the age-old battle between good and evil. In 2019, a new evil reared its head in the form of a deadly virus which changed the way we live and interact with one another. As we learned to live through this crisis, a question was posed: ‘What would a COVID superhero look like?’

Artist Vipoo Srivilasa responded by creating COVID Superheroes project first in Australia where he resided and then in Thailand where he is originally from. The project encourages everyday people to express their feelings, share their imaginations and reflect on their self-isolating situations in creative, personal and positive ways.

Vipoo selected 12 most inspiring Superhero designs submitted by the general public after an open call and invited 12 contemporary Thai artists to bring them to life as small sculptures in various media. 12 writers from online community were commissioned to write a 150 words story about each of the Superheroes.

COVID Superheroes project will be a record of people’s emotions during this unprecedented situation.
