Prudential Thailand donates more critical medical equipment to 5 frontline hospitals to combat COVID-19
Bangkok, Thailand, 6 September 2021 – Prudential Life Assurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited (“Prudential Thailand”) is donating much needed medical equipment to Thai government hospitals in Bangkok and other provinces to help combat the recent surge of COVID-19 in Thailand.
The company has responded to the latest crisis by donating 8 Airvo2 Humidified High Flow Generators (two units per hospital) to large government hospitals in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces including: 1) Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of Mahidol University in Bangkok, 2) Thammasat University Hospital in Pathumthani, 3) Samut Sakhon Hospital in Samut Sakhon, and 4) Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital in Bangkok/Samut Sakhon.
This vital equipment is used to care for patients with severe mid-term respiratory conditions. The machines generate a high flow of warmed and humidified respiratory gases that can be delivered to a patient through a variety of nasal, tracheostomy and mask interfaces.
Prudential Thailand will also donate 15 BeneFusion VP5 Ex infusion pumps to Vajira Hospital. This intravenous infusion volumetric pump provides critical patient monitoring and life support systems, with up to eight infusion modes to meet a wide range of clinical demands, for medical staff to treat COVID-19 patients.
Robin Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Thailand, said, “We continue to support Thailand during these challenging times through our numerous company initiatives. Our group-wide COVID-19 Relief Fund addresses the pandemic’s immediate response and impact, as the company provides social and economic benefits through this campaign. These include donations to provide vital medical equipment to support Thai government hospitals and protect the lives of medical professionals and patients.”
“The coronavirus pandemic has been an epic test of character and determination for millions of people around the world, and everyone does their best work when we do it together. But nothing compares to the sacrifice made by front-line medical workers in Thai hospitals. Ultimately Prudential Thailand is here to support the local Thai community needs and the brave medical teams working tirelessly to keep us safe,” Mr. Spencer, added.
This most recent support follows Prudential Thailand’s donations as part of the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help construct Airborne Infectious Isolation Room (AIIR) facilities and Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) clinics at Golden Jubilee Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital of Mahidol University, Vajira Hospital, Hat Yai Hospital and Priest Hospital, providing lifesaving medical treatment to patients with severe COVID-19 related respiratory diseases. Additionally, Phase II of the COVID-19 Relief Fund will be launched later this year to provide additional support to hospitals and medical professionals.
