Prudential Thailand guarantees coverage to those with COVID-19
Patients at home or in community isolation programmes entitled to medical expenses
and daily compensation
Bangkok, Thailand, 6 August 2021 – Prudential Life Assurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited (Prudential Thailand) is providing medical expenses coverage and daily compensation to customers who are diagnosed with COVID-19, or are required to conduct self-isolation from home or take part in community isolation programmes.
This measure is in accordance with the policies and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Public Health and the Registrar Order No. 43/2564 dated 29 July 2021 by the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) regarding the eligibility of medical expenses as well as In-Patient Department (IPD) and Out-Patient Department (OPD) benefits amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and hospital bed shortage in Thailand. The protection covers both individual and group health insurance customers.
Prudential Thailand will provide medical coverage to insured customers based on actual and necessary expenses incurred for medical treatment. The amount payable cannot exceed
the benefits stipulated in the insurance policy. The company will also cover expenses for
out-patient (OPD) and in-patient (IPD) medical treatment, which has been adjusted for payout using an OPD model.
In addition, policyholders with the following conditions are eligible to a daily compensation protection for up to 14 days from the date of COVID-19 diagnosis: aged 60 and over; overweight or have a BMI of more than 30 or weigh more than 90 kilograms; or patients suffering from congenital diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, uncontrolled diabetes, or other diseases at the discretion of the doctor.
