REASON and NATURE

Noppanan Thannanaree

July 29 – Sept 9, 2023

La Lanta Fine Art

(BANGKOK) – La Lanta Fine Art is pleased to announce a solo art exhibition by Noppanan Thannaree, a promising young Thai artist whose work depicts a connection between human and nature through the visual of outdoor landscape.

The challenge of painting on location is that the artist is exposed to various factors including temperature, sunlight, smell, time, as well as other elements that affect his senses. Not only the artist has to organize the process of painting but also prioritize the information in front of him at that point in time.

In the exhibition “REASON and NATURE,” Noppanan observes the structure of nature and portrays it in a straightforward manner. His serene painting comprises repetitive movements that have become the artist’s identity. Most of Noppanan’s inspiration comes from Zen and Buddhist philosophy that emphasizes on nature. The paintings do not contain any human figures as the natural scenery by itself already presents a form of life that makes reference to body, breath and movement.

“REASON and NATURE” will be on display at La Lanta Fine Art from July 29 until September 9, 2023.

La Lanta Fine Art is located at 3rd Floor, 2198/10-11 Narathiwas Rajanakarin Road soi 22, Chongnonsi, Yannawa, Bangkok 10120. Opening hours is Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 19.00 hrs.

About Noppanan Thannaree

Born in 1988 in Chiangrai province in the North of Thailand, Noppanan Thannaree earned B.F.A and M.F.A majoring in Thai Art from the Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Thailand.

In his early career, Noppanan’s body of work was mostly done with Chinese ink on paper. Some are monumental in scale and drawn intricately with his own handmade bamboo pen. For him, the work process is a form of meditation. Drawing each blade of grass is a way to tune the mind into the present.

The Zen and Buddhist philosophy behind his work have shaped his character as they become an intrinsic part of who he is as an artist. In the later development of his career, Noppanan expands his philosophy beyond the boundary of a religious realm and starts to explore the universal law of nature. He continues to use nature as his main theme and further experiments with a variety of techniques to represent his new ideas.

Noppanan lives and works between his studios in Nakorn Pathom and Chiangrai.
