Trina Solar Launching New Generation of Solar Module

at ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week

BANGKOK (13 September 2022) – Trina Solar, a leading global PV and smart energy total solution provider, is officially launching its Vertex DE19R module at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week exhibition in Bangkok (14-16 September).

“As one of the earliest module brands to enter the Thai market, Trina Solar has been devoting its efforts into this market for the last ten years,” says Todd Li, President of Trina Solar Asia Pacific.

“We are exhibiting at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week exhibition because Thailand is a growing market and a very important market for Trina Solar,” says Todd. “We are always in the top three, for solar brands in Thailand, and are grateful to our Thai business partners for making this happen,” he adds.

The Vertex DE19R module has maximum power output up to 580W and maximum efficiency of 21.5%. It is based on the 210mm cell technology platform, but is different to the earlier generation DE19 module. As the letter ‘R’ suggests, it incorporates rectangle rather than square-shaped solar cells.

“Trina Solar is at the forefront of new technologies in the industry. Rectangle-shaped solar cells are a new innovation that contributes to the module’s higher efficiency and power,” Todd adds.

The DE19R module, with its high power, improved inverter compatibility is ideally suited for commercial and industrial rooftop installations. The module’s high power and efficiency maximizes the limited rooftop space available, delivering a lower balance of system (BOS) cost and a lower levelized cost of energy (LCOE) while providing high reliability.

For utility-scale projects in Thailand, Trina Solar offers its Vertex DE21 module that has maximum efficiency of 21.6% and maximum power output up to 670W. German research institute, Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE), completed a detailed assessment last year showing that the capital expenditure (CAPEX) of the Vertex 670W is 4.2% lower than 540W modules, that use 182mm diameter wafers, and the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is 4.1% lower. Founded in 1981, Fraunhofer ISE is Europe’s largest solar research institute.

Evershining Ingredient, an animal feed producer in Thailand’s Samut Songkhram province, installed 1,247 Trina Solar Vertex DE21 modules, making it the first customer in Asia, outside China, for this module.

Todd says: “Thailand is a developed market with sophisticated customers who are looking for the latest technology. This is why we are exhibiting our newest and most advanced products at this event.”

Trina Solar will also have available in Thailand in next year’s first quarter, a second generation of DE21 bifacial module that incorporates 210mm n-type cells.
