Continental in Thailand join forces to raise Road Safety Awareness for young students

  • Continental Automotive and Continental Tires promote Road Safety Awareness for young students in Rayong province under the program “Safe Road, Safe Lives”.
  • The CSR initiative aim to adhere safety mindset to young people who will grow up driving vehicles, especially motorbike.
  • Continental also aims to be a role model in raising road safety awareness internally and externally their organization

Bangkok, 19 October 2020, Continental in Thailand represented by Mr. Peter Rankl, President ASEAN, Continental Automotive, and Mr. Vignesh Devasenapathy, Plant Manager, Continental Tyres (Thailand) Co., Ltd. together with Continental Volunteers joined corporate social responsibility program, which was held at Nikomsangtoneng Rayong 10 School. The campaign ‘Safe Road, Safe Lives’ is part of the company CSR initiative that Continental have been promoting as an annual event with the aim to improve road safety standard in Thailand by raising safety awareness among young students.

“Safety is at our heart and has always been our focus, and this year is a great chance that Automotive and Tires join forces as one Continental in Thailand for the first time to push forward our vision on Zero Accident. We do believe that it is important to raise safety awareness to young people at the early ages as once they understand the consequences, they will be a key person to help reduce risks and accidents on the road in the future. That’s why we talk to them about driving safely and other traffic rules and regulations today, as well as providing them a helmet as safety gear so they can use in their daily commute”, mentioned Mr. Rankl.

“We all at Continental are proud that our products have brought safety to the roads around the world. Almost 150 years that we produce world class technologies and products, our job is not just done right after we deliver them to customers, because there are more that we can do to bring safety to the roads”, added Mr. Devasenapathy.

Apart from activities related to road traffic, Continental also take this opportunity to support health and well-being of students by sponsoring sports equipment and school lunch to ensure adequate and various nutrition on student daily meals.

Since the beginning of its operations in Thailand, Continental have always been organizing events to promote road safety awareness under the program “Young Driver”. To date, there are more than 1,300 students in Rayong and Chonburi joined this activity.

The company also plan to carry forward their efforts and endeavors to raise safety awareness among its employees at the tire manufacturing facility in Rayong with the aim to become a role model in the region on Zero Accident both internally and externally.
